  2. So Buddy heard noises and it was the Amos family and he saw them move his suitcase. Then Buddy had got back at them for doing that to his bag so he pranked one of them by making them wet the bed for payback. Later he ran off and had to sleep in the basement of the library. While he was there he was just thinking of memories of his mom rather his family. Buddy needed some food but he did not have any so he had to go hungry he said to himself. But he ended up with a pretend family he did not know why they called him Clarance. But he had food though.

  3. So,the Amos family had locked buddy in a shed and he basically became paranoid because, what he thought was to be a bat hanging upside down was actually a hornets nest. When he whacked it with a rake and the hornets were mad and they stung him he broke out of a window covered with newspaper and snuck into the house of the Amos’s house and got his suitcase back.Took a walk to the library and seen a statue of his mother on a midget horse.he woke up late to go to a soup kitchen for food and was late and they were not serving anymore but a random family that was in line called bud their son so he could get into the soup kitchen.

So Bub needed Ms.Hill in the library for something and then he had to ack one of the librarians where was she and she said she moved to Chicago Illinois. Then Bub did not know what to do so he went back to the three to think until the next day. Later Bub went to sleep and he did not know it and the next day he heard a noise and he did not know who it was then. Bub knew who the voice was and it was Bugs his foster brother. He told Bud he figured he would be here so Bud told him where was he going. He said to the west where there was fruit there and he asked if Bub wanted to go he said count me in. \When they were there they had to go to Hooverville to get to the train. After that Bud met a girl named Deza and they ended up liking each other. Also sharing stories with each other. So they went to the train after all that but they ended up missing the train and had to go back and it was shooting going on and danger so he said he should have just stayed in flint. Then he went home and he didn’t see the pretend family he was with so he got his own food to eat and went back to the library. He saw the librarian and said good morning and asked for a paper and a pencil and the book about how far one city is from another. Then she noticed he did not eat so he gave him some food. So Bud just ate and looked in the book

Bud went into the library and opened the door but the smell seemed different ,it was cooler. So Bud started telling us this story about how when people read the books and flipping the pages it make them want to go to sleep and they started drooling and that makes the the librarians mad. After Bud was looking for Mrs Hill ,but couldn’t find her, so he went to the desk and said “I’m looking for Mrs Hill. She looked surprised and replied “Haven’t you heard” and if a grown up ever starts a sentence by saying “Haven’t you heard,”Get ready,’Cause what’s about to come out is gonna drop you headfirst into a boiling tragedy. She laughed and said “Really, it’s not bad news, Mrs Hill is living in Chicago,Illinois, and got married”. After that he went to sleep under a tree, the next morning he felt someone staring at him, it was bugs! Bus told him the story about him and Todd fought. They were headed to Hooverville, they did heads Or tails and had to ask do the people got any extra food. So there was this girl there and they all had to do this dishes her name was Deza Malone. He was just telling her about his mom and she was holding his hand and saying “this is a sad story”.

Then he walked up to the librarian and she looked up to bud and said would you like to retrieve your suitcase back? Bud said he wasn’t ready to get it back yet so he asked her did she know where Miss HIlls at? She replied “Haven’t you heard” if a grown-up ever starts a sentence by saying Haven’t you heard you know its something wrong. She said Miss Hills live in Chicago, Illinois, and she had got married. He went outside and slept under a tree by the library, The next day he felt someone staring at him so he pulled out his knife and was ready, but then someone jumped on him and it was Bug! HE told him the story about he fought a kid. They were headed to Hooperville, they found it and did head or tail to see who will go up to the people and ask them do they have any extra food left and if this is the right Hoopervillle. When Bud wakes up the next morning he finds himself beneath the covers. His clothes were stacked neatly and they were folded the way his mom used to fold them.He realizes that Miss Thomas must have come by during the night, undressed him, and put him in bed. Bud got dressed quickly. Drawn by the sound of laughter and talking emanating from the kitchen, he tiptoes quietly down the stairs. When he gets to the kitchen door, he overhears Miss Thomas telling Herman E. Calloway talking.”You have no idea how bad those orphanages can be you’ll take care of any stray dog wandering through this neighborhood, but when it comes to a child all of a sudden you have no sympathy. Not wanting to be caught eavesdropping, Bud hurries soundlessly back upstairs. He loudly washes up in the bathroom and clumps down the hall and back down the steps as if he has just awakened. When he enters the kitchen, everyone has looks on their faces like they hadn’t been talking about him at all.Bud says “good morning.”But only Calloway does not say good morning back.Miss Thomas then told Bud that she and Mr. Calloway and the band discussed his situation “for a long time” the night before. They have decided that, though they need to talk to some people in Flint before any arrangements are finalized, they would like Bud to stay at Grand Calloway Station with them “for a while. While the band prepares to rehearse, Bud works with the mop, pretending that it is the underwater boat in the book he erroneously remembers as “Twenty Thousand Leaks Under the Sea.”Steady Eddie starts snapping his fingers, then puts his sax to his lips and makes it talk. His instrument makes the most beautiful sound Bud has ever heard; the notes swirl and float over and above the rest of the “storm of music.” Bud is so mesmerized by the band’s music that he does not even hear Miss Thomas, Mr. Jimmy, and Herman E. Calloway come up behind him. The vocalist and Mr. Jimmy compliment Bud on the cleaning he is doing. Mr. Calloway lets out a grunt as the three head up to the stage.

Bud has been living with the band for just about a week, but already he is going on his third road trip with them. They are headed for a small town called Mecosta, an hour and a half north of Grand Rapids. Herman Calloway and Mr. Jimmy are riding in one car with the instruments, while Bud is in the other car with the rest of the musicians. For this gig, Miss Thomas has stayed behind at Grand Calloway Station. If the performance goes well, and Bud gets to sleep onstage that night to guard the instruments. In the morning, Mr. Calloway wants to spend some time with an acquaintance before departing, so Mr. Jimmy instructs the boy to assist Calloway and to ride home with him later. Bud is not looking forward to spending “a whole hour and a half trapped in a car” with the ill-tempered band leader. Sure enough, the experience starts off when, Herman E. Calloway chooses a nondescript rock on the ground with his shoe and orders the boy to pick it up for him. Overcome with curiosity, Bud asks, with unintended bluntness, “What in Sam Hill are you going to do with a rock?” The old man just utters tersely, as he puts the key in the ignition of the car, “Bad habit.”

  23. After learning Bud’s mother’s name, Herman E. Calloway locks himself in his room. Mr. Jimmy and Miss Thomas continue to question Bud in the kitchen, asking him how long ago his mother passed away, and what she looked like. Bud tells them that she died peacefully at home after a short illness four years ago, when he was six. He tries to describe her physical characteristics, but falls short in his attempt. Instead, he runs upstairs to get the photograph of her that he keeps in his sax case.
When he gets to his room, Bud is surprised to find Mr. Calloway sitting there at the dressing table, holding his face in his hands, sobbing
When he gets to his room, Bud is surprised to find Mr. Calloway sitting there at the dressing table, holding his face in his hands, sobbing. The boy goes quietly over to the place near the bed where he keeps all of his important possessions and takes the envelope with his moms picture in it. Herman Calloway does not notice. As Bud passes by the man on the way back out of the room, he reflects that babies cry all the time, but that when an adult is moved to tears:
Even though he realizes that the old man is crying “’cause he found out the two of [them] are kin,” Bud cannot help but feel sorry for him. He walks over and puts his hand on Mr. Calloway’s back. The distraught figure flinches, then looks at him and mumbles incoherently, calling him “Buddy,” to which the child responds, not unkindly, Bud reaches out to pat his shoulder, then leaves the room. He runs back downstairs where Mr. Jimmy and Miss Thomas are waiting. Bud puts his Momma’s picture in the center of the table. Both adults examine the photograph closely, then Mr. Jimmy said, “Uh, uh, uh, that definitely is Angela Janet Calloway.”
That means that’s not some little dead girl’s room I’m sleeping in, that’s my Momma’s room!
Miss Thomas explains earnestly that Mr. Calloway didn’t know anything about him. Bud’s mother had run off before he was born, and no one knew where she had gone. Herman Calloway had been very hard on his daughter when she was growing up, reasoning:
He had loved his daughter very, very much. He was determined that she was going to be the first in the family to get through college and have a profession. In his zeal, however, he never gave her a chance to decide for herself. Finally, Angela rebelled and ran off with one of the band’s musicians.
Miss Thomas fetches a portrait of Bud’s Momma, taken when she was sixteen years old. She gives it to the boy and asks him to be patient with his grandfather, as the hurt of his daughter’s death is still “brand-new” for him. She explains that when Angela Janet was little, she had asked her father to bring her a rock from one of the places the band performed. Since that day, Herman Calloway has taken stones from every place the band visited; he inscribed them with the names of the towns and the dates. 24. when he learned bud’s mother’s name he locked himself away in a room. Others kept asking bud questions so bud walked away into the kitchen and then they asked how long since his mother passed away, what she looked like? Bud said she died when they were a home when he had walked in the door after an illness for 4 years when he was 6. Then bud tried to describe his mom to them after that bud went into the room upstairs and he saw Mr.Calloway sitting there crying at the dressing table. Bud tried going into the room quietly trying not to be loud so close to the bed. Now bud pass the man on the way back out of the time, but when an adult is moved to tears even though Bud hears the old man crying cause two of them are family Bud cannot help but feel sorry for him. Miss Thomas gives a portrait of Bud’s momma, taken when she was 16 years old. Miss Thomas gives bud it to the boy and asked him to be patient with his grandfather. as the hurt of his daughter’s death is still brand new for him. She said, that when Angela Janet was little, she had her father bring her a rock from every place she had visited the name of the town and the dates. The old man stored the boxes for saving them for her……….
